tedthetrumpet – aka Dr Edward ‘Teddy’ Edwards – is the fictional alter-ego of Scottish composer-performer J Simon van der Walt. Originally a bit-part in the children’s television show ‘Balamory’, the ‘ted’ character has morphed into a vehicle for work that strays from the high ground of contemporary score-based composition, taking in such terrain as electro-junk improvisation, livecoding, algorave, and generally mucking about with technology.
